Royal Davui: The Perfect Remote Adventure for Honeymooners

Royal-Davui-Island-Aerial-1.jpg

Royal Davui is located in Beqa Lagoon, on the Pacific coast of the main island of Fiji, known for the legendary Fiji firewalkers and a world-famous surfing break, Frigate’s Passage. For newly married honeymooners, the all-inclusive island resort has private sandbanks for champagne brunches and picnics, adventures exploring the barrier reef preserved by the resort, and sweeping ocean views from each villa. We think you’ll never want to leave this exclusive island escape.

 Natural Island Habitat

Royal Davui prides itself on preserving Fiji’s natural surroundings. Guests get the benefit of seeing unspoiled nature and a real experience of barefoot luxury. In fact, during the construction of the resort, the villas were built into the island and around vegetation, meaning no old-growth trees were destroyed. Fishing isn’t allowed on the reef surrounding the island, so divers and snorkelers will see even more species of colorful fish and coral. You really feel like you’re part of the landscape on this remote island.

Unique Luxury Villa Views & Layout

Each of the 16 villas dotting the island is crafted with thatched roofs and wood, maintaining the traditional look and feel of a Fijian vale (home). Each vale has a unique layout featuring a sitting room with a wet bar, a sun deck (or two), a spa bathtub, and a private heated plunge pool. The staff do everything they can to accommodate guests’ needs.

It’s the little touches that matter here, like having homemade banana bread and fruit ready when you enter your room. As anywhere in Fiji, the people are nice, always smiling, and helpful. Ask them about their culture—they are happy to share stories.

If you and your partner love views, you can enjoy the scenery from the comfort of your bure. Each villa has a unique view of surrounding reefs, nearby islands, and gorgeous sunsets. Choosing a view might be your most difficult decision while planning this honeymoon!

Here are some of the special views to choose from:

  • The honeymooners’ delight pool suite on the east is the most private accommodation Royal Davui offers. You’ll see views of the stunning Beqa Island and beautiful sunrises and will feel like royalty entering your vale through hand-carved solid mahogany double doors.
  • The pool suite on the west side of the island is special because it sits atop the very edge of cliffs from which you can see the island and ocean from a whole new perspective.
  • From the island pool vale, you can see the southern beach as well as the ancient Fijian rock fish-trap, where you can see a bunch of little pools at low tide.
  • Sunrises can be seen on the eastern side of the island in the deluxe pool vales. From here, you can also see Beqa Island.
  • The premium pool vale has full or partial sunset views and is larger than the other vales, with a 20 ft. awning above the bed.

Private Sand Cay (Sandbar or Sand bank)

Picture having a private sandbar all to yourselves. It’s just you and your partner, alone, looking out across blue water, watching fish go by, and digging your feet into the white sand. This is what you’ll get on a Royal Davui private sand cay picnic. Honeymooners love this special treat, during which you can have a picnic, lie in the sun (or shade provided by the resort), or snorkel around. It’s your private time, and the resort will pick you up by boat when you’re ready to return. This romantic afternoon is a favorite among guests.

Adventure is right below your villa, with a world underneath the water to explore. You can go scuba diving or deep-sea fishing or can use catamarans and paddleboards. For days meant for relaxation, Royal Davui offers a spa for a romantic couples massage, a pool, and a bar, or guests can head to a private island to relax on the beach. To help you explore Fijian culture, the resort will take you to a local village on Beqa Island where you can meet the chief of the village, participate in a welcome ceremony, and visit a local school.

Dine Under the Pacific Banyan Tree

All meals are included in your stay. Enjoy first class cuisine like fresh snapper and prawn potato pot pie, grilled local reef fish, coconut-crusted tiger prawns, ginger and lemon chicken, and beef carpaccio with beetroot, to name a few. Choose to dine in the Banyan Restaurant, where a beautiful Pacific banyan tree grows through the dining room. Or dine in your room for a lovely private dinner on your sun deck, looking out into the ocean. The resort also has hidden beach huts around the island, where you can choose to dine at least once during your stay. Menus change daily, and the resort can accommodate special dietary needs.

A must during the trip is to head to the Banyan Bar for cocktails with acoustic Fijian music at sunset. Fijians have beautiful voices, and this is a great activity before dinner.
