Resort Overview
Dolphin Bay, on one of the top 10 dive destinations in the world – the famous Rainbow Reef, is only accessible only by boat, but our little hideaway is the ideal place for diving, snorkeling and getting away from it all. Sip a glass of imported wine while in your hammock and watch the fish go by. Luxuriate with a relaxing massage while listening to the gentle sound of waves lapping on the shore. Top it all off with a delightful dinner on the beach, or visit the village and get to know the real Fiji, its history, culture and its people.
Accommodations
All of our accommodations are oceanfront and offer beautiful views of the bay. Choose between our 4 bures (traditional Fijian Style bungalows) with private facilities or our 2 Jungle Tents with shared facilities. Enjoy daily maid service and turn down in the evening.
Traditional Bure
Our bures are locally built from bamboo and hard wood. They are not fancy, but comfortable, with double or queen size beds, inner spring mattresses, mosquito screens and nets as well as solar lights, and hot water showers. (Please remember to save water!) For rain water collection, the roof is not made from reeds or natural materials.
Jungle Tent
Be adventurous and stay in a Jungle Tent (large room with standing head space and mosquito screens) featuring double or single beds with inner spring mattresses make you sleep like a baby. Sorry no solar power in the Jungle Tent, but you will have romantic kerosene lambs. The 2 Jungle Tents share 1 shower and 1 toilet. Please no smoking inside the bures or Jungle Tents.
Activities
After diving you should rest… well we do…..
Enjoy the afternoon in your hammock, snorkel the bay, take a walk on the beach, do a shore dive or explore the reef. Later in the afternoon, hike to the top of the mountain and watch the sun set over the Somosomo strait.
Spend a day exploring Fiji’s Garden Island, Taveuni. Meet your drivers Kamal and Edwin, who are also your hosts in our Taveuni Guesthouse. Both are very safe drivers and they enjoy taking you around and giving you some of their local insight into the people and places on Taveuni. You can arrange for the trips when you get here or book them in advance.
Lavena Coastal Walk
An all-day trip to Lavena on Taveuni’s east side. Approximately 3 hours by car, 1.5 hour hike one way, includes picnic lunch. Wear Teva-type sandals (shoes might get wet).
Things to bring: Towel, change of clothes, underwater camera (swim to 2nd fall), water, mosquito repellent, sunscreen.
Dateline & Watavala Waterslide
Half-day trip to Taveuni’s Dateline (180 Meridian) and to Taveuni’s Natural Waterslide. Be prepared to get wet. Rocks might be slippery! Wear Jeans or thick shorts.
Things to bring: Towel, change of clothes, camera, water, mosquito repellent, sunscreen.
Blowhole, Farms & Snorkeling
Half-day trip to Taveuni’s southern tip, including the blowhole and a stop at Vuna Lagoon Lodge. Vuna is the seat of Tui Vuna, the chief of this part of the island. It is also nice little bed & breakfast with an opportunity to snorkel. Return through Kava and Dalo plantations and rainforest. Be prepared to stop and drink yagona (kava).
Horse Riding
Ride up to the top of the volcano crater and enjoy the expansive views. Long pants are recommended. About 2-3 hours
Things to bring: Mosquito repellent, sunscreen, camera, water.
Bird Watching
Taveuni is home to the famous orange dove and other rare birds that will get any ornithologist out of bed early in the morning. Hiking through the rainforest and the mountains requires an early start. Wear long pants and comfortable hiking boots. This tour can take up to six hours (in December when the famous Tagimoucia flower is blooming people go all the way to the top of the mountain).
Things to bring: small snack, water, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, camera, binoculars.

Dining
Enjoy dining on our veranda or oceanside on the beach. Get to know everyone by dining together family style or plan a romantic dinner for two. Separate tables are not a problem at all. Our meal plan is all you can eat and includes a full breakfast, lunch, candle light dinner and Risi’s mouthwatering desserts and absolutely delicious homemade breads. Agela and Maritina prepare all meals with fresh and locally grown natural ingredients. Fresh brewed coffee, tea, water and snacks are available all day long. Be sure to enjoy our daily Sundowners and famous cocktails! There is always a good selection of wine available along with beer and other beverages, all at reasonable prices. After dinner enjoy our homemade Bailey’s!
Availability combined with desire dictates our daily meal plan. We like spicy so garlic and “rokete” our local chili pepper, are often found in our mix of Asian, Fijian, European and Indian dishes. Let us know when you are booking your stay and we will cater to any dietary needs you may have.
If you are staying in our Taveuni Guesthouse, be prepared for lots of yummy, spicy Indian food and remember to bring your own alcohol.
