Nanuku Auberge Resort: Refined Luxury & Family-Friendly
This post is the second part of a three-part family-friendly series on resorts the Bucket List Family visited with Fiji Vacations. View part one here.
Fiji Vacations also organized the Bucket List Family’s stay at a resort on the main island of Fiji, Nanuku, an Auberge Resort. This is another outstanding family-friendly option in Fiji. The resort has an excellent set of offerings special for families. It will also provide a variety of items complimentary to lighten the travel load like a stroller, car seat, cot/crib, and other special baby amenities. While at Nanuku, you will discover spacious all-suite villas, secluded beaches, all-inclusive innovative food options, and so many activities for the whole family.
Open-Air, All-Suite Accommodations
Families will love Nanuku’s unique accommodations, as they each connect to make it easier to keep the family or group together in one area. The airy floor plans beautifully blend outdoor and indoor into one.
While there are so many types of accommodations for families, we particularly like the Beachfront Pool Villa. It has two king beds plus four single beds, with your own private swimming pool, private patio, and outdoor shower.
You can also choose the Beachfront Grand Pool Villa which includes its own media room with day beds, minibar, kitchen, BBQ area, and a private infinity pool. Perfect for getting the whole family together in one spot! The Beachfront Grand Pool Villa offers two king beds and three additional rollaway beds.
Lailai Children’s Club
The Children’s Club offers educational daily activities like arts, water sports, games, and cultural learning. In addition to the Children’s Club, the resort has movie nights, pool parties, dinner parties, sandcastle building, books, and board games.
Club House Care for Babies and Toddlers
Every child under the age of six has a dedicated nanny to attend to their care from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily (extended hours can be organized for an additional fee upon request prior to arrival). Nanny service is included complimentary to all guests traveling with children. Children ages five years and under are welcome at the Club House when accompanied by a parent or nanny
Fijian Buddies
Children between the ages of 6 and 12 get assigned a Fijian Buddy to watch over them and keep them entertained. Children will feel their Fijian Buddy is more like a friend than a babysitter. They can play together on the beach, go fishing, and play indoor board games.
Villa Mumma
Every suite and villa comes with its own dedicated butler known fondly here as the Villa Mumma. Having someone to cook and clean for the family really takes a load off parents so they can enjoy their vacation with their little ones and not have to worry about cleaning!
Activities Especially for Teens
With ample activities on and off property for teenagers, Nanuku provides the perfect setting for teen adventure and discovery. Teen activities include swimming, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, hobie cat sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, game and spear fishing, stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, biking, hiking, waterfall swims, zip-lining, sand boarding, table tennis, rugby, board games, cooking lessons, arts and crafts classes, Lali drumming and Fijian singing, special Fijian cultural experiences, and more.
Cuisine for Everyone
Innovative meals and cocktails will surprise and delight. Dining experiences range from inventively crafted cuisine to familiar comfort foods. The restaurant menus are inspired by quality and locally sourced ingredients—from garden-fresh produce to fresh-caught seafood. Special meals and dining menus are available for younger guests. Parents can discuss any special dietary requirements or requests with the resort or their Villa Mumma.
Dine on dishes like tuna sushi with wasabi, pickled ginger and radish, a tempura eggplant crisp, or pan‐fried fillet of snapper. If seafood isn’t your thing, dine on decadent slow cooked pork belly. All dishes are designed to provide an original and uniquely Fijian dining experience.
Options are endless for where you want to eat, whether enjoying a private dining area on the resort or a home-cooked family dinner. The changing menu gives guests a balance of light and healthy choices as well as all-time favorites. Innovative cocktails showcase local ingredients, including the resort’s legendary caprioskas.
Plenty To Do Together
Accommodating families is a top priority at Nanuku no matter the age of your children. You will find special family-oriented excursions to do together. You can learn together about local plants, see historic sites such an old Fijian village at the foot of Qara Mountain, take a safari into Fiji’s lush rainforest interior, and hike to the Waisese Waterfall. You can also take a scenic helicopter adventure. And the Cakava Creative Workshop is open daily for any guest to learn the craft of local artisans.
While the kids are at Children’s Club, adults can do many things like sample rum from the Fiji Rum Company, have a private beach picnic, grab a tropical drink and relax by the pool, or have a couple’s massage at the intimate Lomana Spa and Wellness Center. Regardless of what you do, the azure Fiji waters will make the perfect backdrop for it all.
Ownership Possibilities
If you fall in love with Nanuku and want a place to keep bringing your family over the years, imagine purchasing a suite facing the beachfront, beach view, or garden terrace. The resort offers many ownership possibilities as well.
