Fiji Weddings: Likuliku’s Wedding Experience Like None Other in Fiji

As we’ve discussed previously in our post here, Likuliku is Fiji’s only resort with true overwater bures, located in the Mamanucas on Malolo Island. We talked about it being a perfect honeymoon option, and so did Brides’ June issue, naming Fiji as its number five Top Global Honeymoon Destination. Now we’ll rave about having a wedding at Likuliku.

A wedding in Fiji’s only overwater bures at Likuliku is truly special. The team at Likuliku can accommodate any type of ceremony, size, or style desired. Weddings at the resort range from simple ceremonies to traditional Fijian celebrations.

Couples can pick from locations such as the beach at sunset, the area surrounding the beautiful infinity pool, or the deck of the couple’s own overwater bure. The bride and groom can choose from two wedding packages, which offer the essential requirements for any style or size of ceremony. The wedding can include a fresh flower lei, bure flower decorations, French champagne on arrival, ceremony location and setup, a Fijian choir, a Fijian warrior guard escort, traditional Fijian wedding attire, a minster fee, and a candlelit terrace dinner for two after the wedding. If you schedule your wedding between November and March, your wedding could even be free (conditions apply).

The bride and groom to be can also relax in the Likuliku Tatadra Spa with a luxurious treatment for two. The bride will enjoy a Sugar Body Glow, while the groom will experience a Healing Stone Massage, both followed by an Island Foot Wrap. The spa will surely be a serene and luxurious experience for the couple, nestled against the green slopes of the island, with beautiful water views and gentle breezes.

Overwater Bures

Wedding guests have a lot of room to stretch out, as the property has 45 bures in total. The newly married couple should choose to stay in one of the ten Overwater Bures, which sit atop crystal-clear blue waters.

Each bure has a large deck with sun chairs, binoculars, and a ladder so guests can quickly get into the beautiful water. The sundeck is magical, with captivating views of sunsets and lots of privacy. A glass viewing area in the living room floor allows guests to view the fish below, and the bathroom offers an oversize bathtub and an additional glass viewing floor.

The resort also offers other accommodation options, including Deluxe Beachfront Bures, Beachfront Bures, and Garden Beachfront Bures. All bures feature air conditioning, music systems, phones, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen monitors and a DVD player, a daily canapé plate, and a king bed.

Activities for Relaxation, Adventure, and Culture

After the wedding, the newly married couple can spend their time at the resort’s pool, enjoying the beach, hiking around the island, or participating in the resort’s water sports, including stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing and wind surfing, and snorkeling.

Couples can also interact with the locals by taking a “Shell Village Tour.” In this experience, guests come to understand how Fijian landowners live in the local villages of Yaro and Solevu. The village of Solevu is also the home of the paramount chief of the Mamanuca Islands.

More adventurous couples can parasail across the Malolo waters or take a jet ski tour to MonuRiki Island to see where the famous Tom Hanks Cast Away movie was filmed, then snorkel at the island, one of the most beautiful in the Mamanucas. Likuliku also offers waterskiing and wakeboarding. If you’re interested in surfing, the famous Cloudbreak wave is nearby.

Magical Sunsets and Sandbar Picnics

As we’ve mentioned above, the sunsets from Likuliku are just spectacular, and what better way to see them than on a sunset cruise while sipping a glass of champagne, sampling light appetizers, and being serenaded by Fijians? Malolo Island is known to the local Fijians as na siga e dromu i Malolo. Translated, this means “that place where the sun comes to rest.”

Another special and romantic activity is a trip to the Mana Sandbank for a picnic. During mid to high tide, couples can enjoy a lovely picnic at this new island in the making. The water around the island is crystal clear and excellent for snorkeling and swimming. The team at Likuliku will even set you up with an umbrella for shade along with your picnic lunch.

Getting There

Likuliku Lagoon Resort is 16 miles from Nadi International Airport, only a quick helicopter, seaplane, private speedboat, or catamaran transfer away to paradise.
