Fiji Weddings: Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island
As we continue to highlight some of our favorite wedding venues in Fiji, we now take a look at Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa. Located on Denarau Island, the main island of Viti Levu, the resort is in very close proximity to the Nadi International Airport, making it quick and easy for guests to get to the couple’s big day.
The five-star resort looks out at a gorgeous beach view and has a wedding chapel and event space that holds the largest ballroom on the island. With 296 rooms, the resort is also big enough to hold a large number of wedding attendees.
The Bustling Denarau Island Area
Denarau Island was developed in the late 1960s. From the building of the golf course to the construction of the marina and, most recently, the Port Denarau Retail & Commercial Center, the area is booming. You’ll find a lot of action in Denarau Island to keep you and your guests entertained. There’s more to do here than in a private island resort. The island has an excellent range of resorts with great shopping choices, water sports for a one-of-a-kind adventure, and spas for an ultimate pampering session. You’ll even find some of the best dining options in Fiji here.
Exclusive Ceremony Venues
If a big wedding is your style, did we mention the Sofitel actually has the largest fully integrated conference venue on the island? The Grand Ballroom seats up to 640 people banquet-style or 800 people cocktail-style. There are also many other smaller options for outdoor and private venues on the beach, poolside, the lawn, or the courtyard.
Depending on which package you chose, you can have the opportunity to also receive a private chartered sunset cruise on the luxurious M.V. Riviera One with two hours of appetizers and sparkling wine for two.
Whether it is a small or big wedding, the Sofitel has so many options that the bride and groom will rest easy knowing their wedding is being handled by this premier event facility.
The 296 rooms and suites in the resort feature a contemporary, timeless style with natural beauty and luxurious amenities. Almost all the rooms have waterfront views, and some even have direct access to the beach.
Chef Stuart Blair welcomes guests to the five restaurants and three bars on the property. There’s a restaurant to suit any occasion and mood, from an elegant dining experience to a casual location for a refreshing drink or snack after taking a dip in the pool.
Salt offers the ultimate fine dining experience. It has won many awards for its extensive variety of international cuisine. It’s located at the waters’ edge and can also hold up to 120 guests. Meanwhile, Breeze Bar is the go-to place for a drink or if you want to lounge with a good book. The view is just amazing over the pool to the ocean.
The newest addition to the Sofitel is the vibrant Waitui Beach Club. During the day, its focus is on its personalized butler service, healthy menus created by consultant nutritionist Lucinda Zammit, and fitness and wellness offerings. Its pool with a swim-up bar, private cabanas, and Veuve Clicquot champagne bar are a must-see. Once night hits, lighting will transform the beach club to a party scene where guests can snack on tapas, drink cocktails, and enjoy live entertainment.
The bride and her entourage will surely get pampered in the So Spa, with special privacy bures for individuals and couples. The spa also has private whirlpools, a steam room, an outdoor Jacuzzi, and a refreshment bar.
For some adventure, you can go parasailing, waterskiing, sailing, kayaking, and diving. There is also a tennis and beach volleyball area and a desk to book day trips with Rosie Holidays. Traditional Fijian activities such as the lali drum playing, a torch lighting ceremony, and Fijian meke dancing can also be enjoyed.
The Sofitel is located in Port Denarau Marina on the main island of Fiji and the drive from Nadi International Airport is only about 10 minutes away.
